Her name is on the marriage record as Hester Belford although the same family is also referred to in some Quaker records as Brelford and Brelsford. Her husband's will refers to her as Esther; however Esther and Hester were often used interchangeably in those days.
Children
I have found no further records for Amy, Betsey, Martha, and Nancy; however, I have not made an intensive search.
John and Esther apparently were born, grew up, and married in the Philadelphia area (Bucks County adjacent to New Jersy) but moved from there to Virginia and afterwards in 1783 or 1784 on to North Carolina. Refer to son Stephen's file for documentation of time in Virginia and the move to the Carolinas.
In John's will, he left only one shilling each to sons Jesse and Stephen. This may have been because they had already received help in establishing their estates although this is only conjecture.
Daughter Betsey was named in the will as Betsey Anglin with no mention of a husband or that she was a widow, which was unsusual for that era. My very brief search did not find any records of a marriage for her; however, there are claims that she married Aaron Anglin and also claims that she married Antrim (spelling?) Anglin. Aaron is unlikely as her husband since he appears to have been married to a different woman at the time. John mentions all the children except Sarah by name and names Ephraim Noel for whom there is a record of marriage to Sarah. ,
