Levina McCuiston, born 1802, in Guilford County, North Carolina; married Oct. 8, 1822, in that county, Alfred B. Clark; they went to Kentucky and died there; she died after 1859 and is buried in the family burying-ground.

Jane McCuiston, born 1804, in Guilford County, North Carolina; married there Jan. 16, 1827, Isaac Newton Moody; it is likely they went to Kentucky with the others; she married second, Meridith Walton who died Oct. 6 1851; she died and is buried in Henry County, Tennessee.
This paragraph shows some of the errors found in the McQuiston history. Jane did not have a second marriage. I have data on my ancestors, Jane and her husband Newt Moody here Newt was still living when Jane died. He remarried and had two more children.

James McCuiston, born Oct. 5, 1806, in Guilford County, North Carolina; married there Dec. 13, 1827, Charlotte Knight who was born Oct. 11, 1806, in the same county. He was a farmer and blacksmith; he received a State Grant for 160 acres west of the Tennessee River, 3 Jan. 1825, S.E. Qr. Sec. 32, T2 R6 East; he died Oct. 9, 1870; she died Aug. 6, 1871; both are buried near Pottertown, Calloway County, Ky. The oldest child was born in North Carolina and the others in Kentucky. The dates given below are frrom the family Bible in possession of Thomas H.’s family. The graveyard near Pottertown is on the Johnson farm.

Luther McCuiston, born 1808 in Guilford County, North Carolina; went to Kentucky in 1832. The Land Records show that he received in State Grants, Book 5, pp. 78-9, 160 acres; S.E. Qr. Sec. 32, T1 R6 E. and N.E. Qr. Sec. 32, T1 R6 E., 12 Dec. 1832. These were West of the Tennessee River. He married in 1834, Elizabeth Winchester who was born in 1812. Luther was drowned in the winter of 1839, while crossing a stream in a row boat, having lost one oar. The youngest son was born several months after the death of the father. His widow was remarried July 4, 1844, to Obidiah Eldridge by A. P. Hodges, and died Jan. 22, 1893-94.

John Calvin McCuiston, born July 27, 1815, in Guilford County, North Carolina; married Feb. 13, 1844, in Kentucky, Nancy Crabtree who was born Oct. 22, 1827, in Kentucky; he was a carpenter and cabinet maker. In the State Grants is John (probably this one) received 160 Acres recorded in Book 10, p. 67, N.E. Qr. Sec. 30, T2 R6 East. He died May 6, 1873; she died June 16 1887; they are buried in the family burying-ground near Brandon, Calloway County, Ky.

Note by JFA: their son Robert Bruce, born 1870, was the ancestor of a family I knew as we grew up on farms in Henry County, TN, just north of Puryear.

Thomas Harvey McCuiston, born 1821, in North Carolina; married June 26, 1845, Martha Jane Stilley, deceased; five children were born to her; married second Martha Skinner, born in 1824, in Kentucky; deceased; he married third, Harriet Sykes; he died November 1887; he was eighteen when he left North Carolina. Thomas H. and the wives and some of the children are buried on the old home farm.
