Refer to the documents link on the left for the Will of Thomas "Reedy Fork Tom" McCuiston, Calloway Co., KY, 1852
Note 2: Although most McCuiston researchers accept James McCuiston who married Charlotte Knight as a son of Thomas and Nancy, the marriage certificate for James and Charlotte definitely shows James as James McCuiston Jr and the bondsman as James McCuiston Sr while James and Charlotte came west with Thomas and Nancy. The Junior and Senior issue can perhaps be explained as meaning only the older and the younger with the bondsman's being the groom's uncle James. I believe that elder-younger is probably the correct interpretation since Thomas refers to "my son James" in his will while there appears to be no other James McCuiston of the correct age range in the Calloway County area.
Note 3: The McQuiston, McCuiston and McQuesten families, 1620-1937,Leona B. McCuiston's history of the family
Leona Bean McQuiston states that Luther McCuiston drowned early in 1839, yet Thomas bequeathed money from a land sale to Luther in his September 1851 will.
Married to Nancy Johnson
Since there were two or more Thomas McCuistons in Guilford County while our Thomas, "Reedy Fork Tom" was there, federal censuses that don't help differentiate among the multiple Thomases provide no help and are not cited here.

Note 1: Deaths, Calloway, 1852, pages 1 & 2. Each death record is written across two pages. The record lists Thomas's parents as Walter and Sarah McCuiston (If you use Ancestry.com to look up the record, their list may erroneously have Thomas's name transcribed as Herod, but photocopies of the original record show the name to be Thomas.)
