Note 1: Gravestone: the inscription on his gravestone in Drucilla Independent Fundamental Cemetery, McDowell County, NC, states that he died 2 December 1857, age 42 years, 5 months, and 25 days. I can't be certain of the 5 in 25, but one a note-taker also had the number of days as 25. This would make his birthday 7 June although it is traditionally taken to be 5 June. Note: the cemetery was in Burke County at the time of his burial.

Since I didn't see a copy of the original record, I'm unsure if Y was misread for Z or if the clerk wrote it incorrectly.
