Many men have been suggested various web sites as John's father but without compelling evidence for any. Of those suggested, Richard seems most likely to me.
No more is known about the mother than the father.
They were almost certainly born in England or perhaps in Wales and probably remained there if they were still living when two sons, Henry and John, came to the American colonies on the ship Vine.
