Without a surname added for her, Elizabeth should be Robert's mother but could be Nancy's mother. Elizabeth Garrison reportedly died 1856, but I have not seen the death record. 1870 Census, Henry County, Tennessee, page 412b: Nancy Tucker, 35, L. Marriage of Alice and John Scarbrough

John was the son of John Scarbrough and Emily Chilcutt and was born about 1846.

Marriage: John A. Scarbrough and Alice Tucker, 6 February 1873, wed by J. W. Weldon, MG, bondsman B. F. Williams

I have almost no data on Alice's son John; however, the information for J. E. Scarbrough on findagrave.com is probably for him. These Scarbroughs are listed as buried in the Blodgett City Cemetery, near where the Scarbrough-Smith family lived.
Virginia, born 21 January 1875, died 23 February 1907 (William's first wife, Virgie Burton)
Nettie L., born 5 September 1881, died 15 December 1885 (She could have been the child of one of the brothers.)
J. E., born 28 December 1878, died 13 March 1903 (Unknown unless J. E. is really John C.; dates agree fairly well with dates I have for him.)
Wm. A., born 22 October 1873, died 13 March 1956
Fannie Lee, born 27 December 1893, died 30 March 1943

Jefferson D. Smith

Marriage

J. D. Smith and Mrs L. A. Scarbrough, 5 December 1880, bondsman S. Bailey, wed by J. T.? Merrell, MG Source: page 92, Henry County Tennessee Marriages, Volume Three, 1868 - 1880, Compiled by W. O. Inman, Published by Friends of the Library, Paris-Henry County Library

Although my great grandmother and great aunt who raised my mother after her parent's death corresponded with Jeff's and Alice's son Charles, I know almost nothing about his life. I have a photo of his business card and know that he either operated or serviced steam-powered diggers. My mother also had a photograph of a woman who may have been his wife but identifed only by dim writing as Nettie, Nellie, or possibly even Mattie. I neither have nor can find his death date, which means the death was probably not in Missouri since the state has excellent death records beginning in 1910.

I know even less about Robert, James, and Albert, only the information found on censuses with their parents, but the obituary of their half-brother Will Scarbrough in March 1956 gives the home area of each at that time as James, Denver, Robert, California, and Albert, Oregon.

A. J. Williams next door was apparently May Williams Scarbrough's father.
Note: 4 children, 4 living is obviously incorrect. In addition to the 4 sons listed here, Lenore Alice had 3 Scarbrough sons, at least one of whom, William Andrew, lived beyond 1900.
