Note 2: Although the history states that Thankful McCuiston could be the daughter of Thomas McCuiston, one of the Jefferson County, TN, settlers, the daughter of Moses McCuiston, or the daughter of John McCuiston and Dorcas McCuiston, the history has very limited information about the family of John and Dorcas.
Married to Dorcas McCuiston 12 Jan 1768, Rowan County, NC
(a cousin)
A look will show that the McQuiston/McCuiston history (The McQuiston, McCuiston and McQuesten families, 1620-1937) has little reliable information about John and Dorcas. Leona McQueston can state confidently in her history that Robert the immigrant was John's father because of Robert's will and that John and Dorcas married because of NC records but cannot much more with confidence.

Note 1: In his will written 18 November 1765 and proved in the July 1766 session of court, Rowan County, NC, Robert names wife Ann, son James, James's son Robert, daughter Margary along with John Trindel, presumably her husband, and granddaughter Ann, son John, daughter Jean married to James Finley, daughter Sirah, and daughter Mary. Sirah (Sarah?) and Mary were apparently unmarried and named as McCuistons. Robert also named Thomas McCuiston as Gardeen, perhaps guardian to underage children.
