The family bible has an entry about Richard Joseph's birth. It states, "Richard J Gore was bornd the 30 of August 1845." Known as Joseph or Joe, he married Sarah Martin Paschall in 1869. They had one surviving child, Manassah Houston, born 25 July 1872. Joseph lived a short life and died between late 1871 and census enumeration in 1880. Members of the family remembered being told the death occcured in 1877.
Sarah was born August 1849. She died without a will shortly before 21 July 1913 when the Henry County Court appointed her husband James F. Wall to be the administrator of her estate.
Their son Manassah married Lena Bray in 1899, and they had children whose names were Bettie, Nora A., Corbin H., Grace, Pearl, and Gela L. All lived into middle age or beyond if the claim that Gela was the Gela L. married to Clarence L. White and living in Jackson County, Missouri. The two Gelas had the same birth state, the same birth year, and approximately -- perhaps exactly -- the same birth month. I found no marriage or offspring for Corbin, and there seem to be no Gore-named offspring beyond him.

(Note 1): Sarah was a cousin of Clemmie Paschall who married Isaac Newton Gore. If you follow the Paschalls from North Carolina, you will find that almost all of the Paschalls in Henry County, Tennessee, and Calloway County, Kentucky, in the mid-1800s throught 1900 were descended from William Paschall, who along with his siblings migrated from Pennsylvania to North Carolina before several of them moved west.
