His parents: Isaac Darnell Gore and Sarah Alexander
Her parents: John Gallimore and Rosannah
The family bible has an entry about Benjamin Franklin's birth. It states, "Benjamin F Gore was bornd the 5 of January 1847." Known as Frank, he married Rosannah Jane, usually known as Jane, Gallimore in 1871. Frank and Jane had three children, Thomas Jefferson "Tom", Lola, and Anna; however, there are no Gore-surnamed offspring after Tom.
Tom married Lena Alexander, like Tom a grandchild of Isaac Gore. Tom and Lena had only one child, Ethel. Ethel married Charles "Charlie" Jimerson, whose mother was Mary Alexander, a relative of Lena. Charlie and Ethel had no children who survived infancy. When I was young, we lived next door to Tom's and Lena's family Jimerson for several years. After Lena's disabling stroke, I was one of the grandnephews and grandnieces who would sometimes stay with them to help with chores.
I knew from early days that Uncle Tom's sister was the mother of Minnie Hicks, but I had to consult records to discover that it was his sister Lola who was married to James Lafayette Hicks in Weakley County. They had children that included Minnie Dell, Guy, Edna, Ivey, Ottie Bell, Lubie, Lexie, Aubrey, Helen, Harold, and Dorothy. I knew Minnie Dell and often heard family mention her brother Guy and her sister Dorothy.
Minnie married James R. "Jim" Alexander, Lena (Alexander) Gore's brother. When my parents married, they lived on the farm with Jim and Minnie, actually in a small share-cropper house. They remembered that Minnie would almost always cook and have them join her and Jim for lunch and dinner. Jim and Minnie had no children and apparently enjoyed having young people around We visited them often in my childhood. Jim drove a fancy 1939 Chevrolet, and he was a notoriously slow driver, never getting above around twenty miles per hour. A tale was told about his attempt to avoid a pig that ran into the road ahead of him with the result of his following the pig into a ditch and hitting it.
Although I knew Lexie Hicks, who was married to Earl Grubbs, son of Dona Alexander, from early memories, I believed that Lexie was Minnie's niece until records showed that she was Minnie's younger sister. Lexie and Earl had no children. For many years they drove a Model A coupe that I coveted although I was too young to drive on public roads.
I have nothing about Frank's and Jane's daughter Anna except that she was listed as age four and as John Dilda's stepdaughter on the federal census in 1980.
