Other of Richard's and Mary's Children

William is buried in the Bradshaw Cemetery, Buchanan, Tennessee. The death date given for him 13 April 1863. He may have died in a Civil War battle.

Jane Was probably the female in Richard's family, listed between five and ten on the 1830 census and as between 15 and 20 on the 1840 census. She was not with the family in 1850, but Virginia, who was likely the same individual was there instead. I found no marriage for either, and a daughter made her mark as Jane Bradshaw on the 1874 property settlement of Richard's and Mary's estate. She may be the J. Bradshaw buried in the Bradshaw Cemetery with the death date of 1899.

Martha's history is a bit of a puzzle. There was a marriage in Henry County for someone named Martha Bradshaw to James McGee April 1843 when Richard's daughter Martha would have been only thirteen or fourteen, and there appears to have been no signature of a parent or guardian agreeing to the marriage. If it was this Martha, the marriage was brief since she was listed in Richard's family for the 1850 census.

Lucinda, Lucy, appears to have been listed as Leroy, a male, on the 1850 census.

The three sisters, Virginia/Jane, Martha, and Lucinda, seem to have lived together as a family unit from some time before the 1870 census until their deaths. Other family members were with them at times as the censuses show. Their ages given on the censuses vary widely from one to the next, but all were probably born around 1830, perhaps a few years before. The 1870 census reports their names as Jane, Lucy, and Martha; the 1880 census lists them as V., Lucinda, and Martha. Jane/Virginia was probably deceased by 1900 since Lucinda was listed as head of the household that included, Martha, sister Rosa, Rosa's husband A. J. Bradshaw, and A. J.'s and Rosa's daughters in 1900. They reported Lucinda's birth as June 1830 and Martha's birth as November 1830, both likely close to correct althugh perhaps off by a year or two. Lucinda was probably deceased by 1910 since Martha lived with relatives Lee Allen and James Chilcutt.

Richard probably never married, but I can't be certain beyond all doubt. Both the older Richard and his brother Joseph had sons named Richard, both born about 1830 or 1831. The Richard who married Martha Jane Chilcutt was probably Joseph's son. Some evidence for this is finding Richard's and Martha Jane's son Thomas J.listed on the 1870 census with Joseph's sons A. J. Bradshaw and Carroll Bradshaw. Both Richards were soldiers in the Civil War and died then, one dying 20 April 1862 in a POW camp in Springfield, Illinois, and the other dying November 1862 at Jackson, Mississippi, possibly in battle.

John seems not to have married before his early death 6 April 1861. He is buried in the Bradshaw Cemetery.
