My date comes from age of youngest child and from Miriam's status as widow in 1850."(1) My gggg grandfather Samuel Lyle b. abt 1756 Rockbridge Co VA. Served in Rev War moved to Jefferson Co TN married first abt 1784 to Elizabeth L. White second to Margery Hadley. (2) My ggg grandfather Samuel Rogers Lyle, Jefferson Co., TN. b abt 1799, d abt 1848, farmer, married 1836 Miriam Alexander. (3) My gg grandfather John Dryden Lyle of TN, b 1837 married 1854 Elizabeth Owen. Some time in the early 1800's my family came to move to Chattanooga which is where my g grandfather William D. Lyle, my grandfather Joe Lyle Sr, father Joe Lyle Jr, and I were born." --- Bill Lyle
